Happy Ending Movie Review
Happy Ending, the directorial venture of Go Goa Gone fame has released this week. The movie which is supposed to be a rom-com has tried to fit in too many things into a small and vulnerable script. At the end, it fails in all aspects. The movie is set in New York (which I wonder why), where Saif plays an author, who decides to write a movie script for Govinda, who wants to stage a comeback.
The Bollywood spoof part of the story is what gives some grace to the movie. Govinda has shown that he still has some acting left in him, or may be its the writer gave all the best lines of the movie to him. The chemistry between Saif and Ranvir is surprising where they try all foolish stuffs to keep us entertaining.
The biggest disappointment of the movie is the chemistry between, Ileana and Saif. They do not even look like friends, let alone the couple thing. Their moments are just pale and expressionless. Its high time Ileana gets some acting classes while acting in glamour roles. I have not seen any variety in her roles except in Barfi.
Saif, should also avoid acting in same kind of roles again and again….. and again. His role and acting style strongly reminds me of Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail to name a few. But I dont blame him for acting in same kind of roles over and over again. Remember what happened when he tried something new in the form of Agent Vinod? And who can forget the great Humshakals. In that case, its better that he sticks to same old roles that works for him. We cannot do through another Humshakals again!!!
Kalki played her role well as a confused ex-girlfriend, where she thinks that she and Saif are still couple, where as Saif is over and done with her, but unable to tell her that she is no longer his girl friend. Kareena and Preity Zinta have small roles as Saif’s ex-girlfriends. Overall, I suggest you can watch this movie if you do not have much to do over weekends. The movie is predictable and you cannot expect it to give any new experience to you.
