G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra, was a much better version than its animated counterpart. The movie does not have any story as such, it just puts some light on how it all began and how The Cobra came into the existence.
The movie begins in the early ages where Destro is caught of selling arms to both sides and he is punished for it. Then cut to “Not so far in the future”, where his decedent James McCullen Destro XXIV, is now the founder of the Military Armament Research Syndicate (MARS), a special division which develops hi-tech artillery.
MARS develops four special nanomite which is capable to destroy anything on its way. Destro plan to steal these nanomites when they are being delivered to the NATO army. But the Joes save the nanomites from getting into Destro’s hands.
But soon Destro finds the location of the G.I. Joes base and this time succeeds in getting the nanomites. They launch one of them to the Eiffel Tower. And then there is more action on the way. There are small fragments of flaskbacks here and there, putting lights on the life of the Joes in the past. Finally, The Doctor, who was the brain behind all these mess, raises as The Cobra Commander. This is just the beginning of a very nasty action packed G.I. Joe series.
There are also small cameo roles played by Brenden Fraser, Arnold Vosloo (remember them? Both of them were in The Mummy series). The Film is out and out action flick, looks much like the human version of the Transformers. Great hi-tech gadgets and artillery which shows great creative mind of the whole team.
Overall, G.I. Joe The Rise Of Cobra is worth a watch if you are a action freak.
Plus: Great action and Graphics.
Minus: Weak storyline without much justification.
