Glide OS is said to be the first complete online OS. The interface is much like of Windows XP / Vista. The most lovable part of this service is that it is completely free for the storage of up to 10 GB, quite big for online storage isn't it? But you have to pay a nominal amount for service of bigger capacities.
Glide OS has a few built in applications that comes in handy when in need. For example, it has a built in word processor, you can create presentations and spreadsheets and it also had a media player that can play almost all the common audio / video formats. You can also check your emails with the integrated mail management tool.
It also has a few vista sidebar utilities lookalikes like sticky note, calculator, sync tool etc. You can upload or download files between the PC and Glide OS at anytime. And thats no all, it also gives you an option to create your own website also with some really cool design tools.
I have used it for a while now and i have come along with these reviews.
Plus: Free online data storage, No need to carry Laptop or HDD all the time, Integrated word procesor and other utilities, works with alomst all OS and browsers, Easy to use interface.
Minus: A bit slugish on slow internet connection, take time for data transfer, Cannot work on mobile broswers with full functionality, Requires Flash 9 or higher, No Compression Utility to save disk space, Cannot install additional programs.
Overall Ranking : 7/10
I only hope that Glide OS comes up with frequent updates to fill in all the application and security loopholes and make online computing a piece of cake.
