8 X 10 Tasveer Movie Review



"I have a secret." This were the only lines aired from the trailer of 8 X 10 Tasveer. Well the secret was finally revealed last night. Akshay Kumar can see the past of a person by simply looking at their photographs.

Let me tell you one thing. The film is extremely gloomy and slow. But I have no complaints for that as this was the only way in which this story could have been narrated to maintain the suspense till the very last moment.

So now this is another supernatural thriller, and this time its based on photographs (shortly after 13b using mobile phones and TV and Aa Dheken zara using camera), and I would rate it as #2 among the slot along with Aa Dheken Zara, 13B still remains the favorite among the three.

Here, I must surely mention about the screenplay and camera. Both of them are very well done. The screen play is inspired by Vantage Point where the same incident is showed in the perspective of different persons. And the cameraman has really stunned us by some thrilling angles.

The first few minutes are used to show the abilities of Akki which gives us an idea of what is to follow for the next 2 Hrs. Jai (Akshay Kumar) is a son of a big business tycoon. His father dies under mysterious circumstances, which forces Jai to investigate whether it was an accident or planned murder.

Jai uses the photograph taken minutes before his father's death to go to that time and the results he discovers are astonishing and confusing. The audience is left guessing, and if you use little common sense of hindi movie formule, you can easily predict that this will be a double role saga, well before it is revealed in the movie. The killer is Jeet (Jai twin brother), who was believed to be dead. The revelation of Sheila (Aishya Takia Azimi) as the Villian was a very good twist in the tale. Javed Jaffery, as always does a very good job for his limited role.

But even though the movie is little predictable, the series of events that take place in the movie still succeed to keep you in the edge of your seats. The only part of the movie that I felt boring was the climax. It was stretched to the end of the world, and suddenly the story comes to an abrupt end. But still its a welcome movie for Akki after CC2C.

Overall, Tasveer may not be able to make a 8 X 10 impact, but it is really capable of making at least a passport size impression on you.

Plus: Good story and execution

Minus: Film is too gloomy and slow
