Nokia 5800 Firmware 30.0.011Available

Nokia has already started giving yet another firmware update for Nokia 5800 xpressmusic AKA The Tube. The new version is 30.0.011, and is available for certain product codes though OTA (Over The Air). But I guess it will also be available for other product codes and through NSU (Nokia Software Update) and Ovi Suite also.

I had updated my phone last night. Even though there is an unofficial change log available in almost all the related sites, I personally felt some improvement in the overall performance. The phone is more responsive than ever. Even though there are still no home screen widgets and kinetic scrolling, the phone has some remarkable improvements in the browser, camrea and music player functions.

The music player is more responsive now with almost no hick-ups. Now there is no need to press the side volume button to change the volume. The function has been added in the touchscreen itself. The equalizer has been improved. Its now much more pleasant to listen to the songs and even the smallest channel is clearly audible.

Another major improvement is in the camera function. The volume buttons can now be used for zooming, both in still and motion photography mode, and also in the gallery mode. The browser rendering is also improved and the browser is faster than ever.

An additional function to send SMS when on a call has also been added in the call menu. But I still miss some function in the phone. For instance, when the music player is running on minimized mode, there is no option to change the track. This function can atleast be added in the home screen or be made possible by the long press of the volums + and - buttons as in standard SE models. The camera night mode has to be improved a lot. The camera is almost useless at low light areas. I believe that Nokia comes up with a fix for this issues in the later updates. But I am also afraid because Nokia has a bad reputation of just forgetting its old customers when is come out with another new model, in this case the N97.

I hope that Nokia doesn't leave the early adapters of the first ever Symbian 60 V5 phones.

Laft Thurfday I got a chance to watch the premier fhow of K... K... Kaminey. The movie waf a pure entertainer with lotf of twiftf and turnf. But I gueff that the c..c... climax part could have been much b.. b..better.

Kaminey if not a kind of movie where you can go to relax and have a good time. You got to ufe your brain fpontaneoufly in order to decipher the dialoguef of C..C...Charlie and to underftand the overall plot of the movie.

The ftory revolvef between G...G... Guddu and Charlie (fhahid Kapur and fhahid Kapur) who are identical t..t.. twinf. G..G...Guddu if a lifp and Charlie if a ftutter. The fcreenplay if very complex throughout the movie. In the firft half, the movie movef af three parallel plotf until the interval, when they croff each otherf path.

I felt that fome of the characterf were poorly characterized. For inftance, the two elder Bengali brotherf and T...T..Tafhi'f characterf were poorly portrayed and there waf not much information revealed about them.

fhahid K..K..Kapur haf done a wonderfull work in the movie and the pain he haf taken in differentiate both hif characterf in the movie if clearly vifible. P...P...Priyanka Chopra, af ufual rockf in the movie and haf done full juftice to her character. Amol Gupte, the newly found kamina of Bollywood haf done appreciable job.

Overall, Kaminey will furely wake up the Kamina within you and reveal that every one haf a dark fide..... Juft joking. A pure m...m...mafala entertainer.

Pluf: Good performance from all. Interefting f...f...ftory and camera.

Minuf: A bit c...c..complexfcreenplay and dialoguef.

Wondering about too many spelling mistakes? Well these are not mistakes exactly. I was just training you all so that you can watch the movie without much trouble. I just replace F by F. Still confused??? OK.. I will be clear this time.... I just replace F(S) by F.

Last Thursday I got a chance to watch the premier show of Kaminey. The movie was a pure entertainer with lots of twists and turns. But I guess that the climax part could have been much better.

Kaminey is not a kind of movie where you can go to relax and have a good time. You got to use your brain spontaneously in order to decipher the dialogues of Charlie and to understand the overall plot of the movie.

The story revolves between Guddu and Charlie (Shahid Kapur and Shahid Kapur) who are identical twins. .Guddu is a lisp and Charlie is a stutter. The screenplay is very complex throughout the movie. In the first half, the movie moves as three parallel plots until the interval, when they cross each others path.

I felt that some of the characters were poorly characterized. For instance, the two elder Bengali brothers and Tashi's characters were poorly portrayed and there was not much information revealed about them.

Shahid Kapur has done a wonderfull work in the movie and the pain he has taken in differentiate both his characters in the movie is clearly visible. Priyanka Chopra, as usual rocks in the movie and has done full justice to her character. Amol Gupte, the newly found kamina of Bollywood has done appreciable job.

Overall, Kaminey will surely wake up the Kamina within you and reveal that every one has a dark side..... Just joking. A pure masala entertainer.

Plus: Good performance from all. Interesting story and camera.

Minus: A bit complex screenplay and dialogues.

Love Aaj Kal Movie Review


Love Aaj Kal, as the title suggests was a very creative comparison between Love of Yesterdays and Love as of Today. Imtiaz Ali has written an intelligent script, even though it is not on par with his earlier venture Jab We Met. But still it was entertaining.

The film starts in the present time in London where Hook-Up and Break-Up happen in the blink of an eye. Saif and Deepika meet each other, fell in love and later decide to split up because of certain reasons. They decide to break up in style and throw a Break-Up Party.

This is when Rishi Kapoor steps in to share his love experience of the past and the two stories starts to move in parallel to each other until both have an happy ending, but with the twist based on the mind set of the two generations. The editing was quite interesting and the scenes were placed in the right place for the correct length. Brazilian beauty Giselle Monteiro has played her part as Harleen to perfection. Here expressions and attitude were exactly as a typical punjabi girl.

All the songs of the movie are already topping in the charts and it was quite a treat to watch them on the big screen. The film nicely portrays the perspective in which people started treating love in the recent times. Well, there is nothing outstanding in the story, but the way it was taken will not bore you at all. The dialogues were good and the camera work was outstanding.

Overall, Love Aaj Kal is capable of changing the angle of today's love. A good choice for the viewers who want to have a colorful and youthful time.

Plus: Interesting storyline, intelligent editing and cinematography

Minus: Even though it was good, I felt as if some element was missing in the story.

PSP GO Launch in UAE

PSP GO Launch in UAE


PSP Go, the miniature version of the classic PSP handheld console for Sony is expected to hit the UAE market later this year according to some unreliable sources (but I guess its true). I had already posted the technical specification of the new PSP Go on my earlier post.

Even though the new PSP Go will hit the UAE market soon, Sony has made it clear that the old version of PSP 3000 will still be available in the market. So the consumers in UAE and rest of the world will still have a choice of whether to go the the old, more conventional model, or have a zip with the new gizmo, the PSP Go.

I personally dint like the PSP Go when compared to PSP 3000 or its earlier slim versions specially because of the shrinked screen size and the game pad with very little ergonomics. Specially its very difficult to reach the shoulder button (L and R).

So UAE, keep your fingers crossed and have a go on the PSP Go.

Ice Age 3 Movie Review


Ice Age 3, the next sequel to hit the screen within a week after the Transformers has not failed to tickle you. The film is extremely hilarious and more enjoyable than the second part. The film begins in the typical ice age. Manny and Ellie are expecting a baby. Sid is still fooling around and wants to have a family too. Deigo feels that he is too old now to have an adventurous life. Scratt is still working hard to get the acorn, but find his lady love Scratte.

Sid gets hold of three dino eggs and decides to raise them. But soon he is taken into the territory of the dinos along with his babies. The rest of the herd decides to go to save Sid. Here begins the adventurous journey with some roller coaster ride which will leave your stomach in pain becasue of too much of laughing.

Finally, everything goes well. Sid is saved. Manny gives birth to Peaches , their new baby daughter and they return back to the Ice Age.

Overall, its a Ice Age 3 is a very cooling experience in this hot season. A must watch for both adults and kids, if you want to have a good time with the family.

Plus: Good animation and genuine comedy

Minus: I couldn't think of any.
