Angels and Demons, the most anticipated movie of May 2009 is out and this time its even better. The entire drama is set to happen during the time between the Pope's death and electing a new Pope.

The movie is all about Illumiati, a secret society which was founded more that 400 years ago by Galileo , the first known scientist of modern science. The quest is to find the church of Illumination to stop the catastrophe. The Illuminati scripts (symbols) have been used very wisely. Well, I have not read the novel by Dan Brown so I cannot say how much of the movie is actually based on the novel.

Tom Hanks looks extremely better when compared to Da Vinci Code, especially with the new hair style. The suspense is maintained till the very last moment and you will thoroughly enjoy this movie from the edge of your seat.

The five elements of the Illuminati Puzzle, Fire, Water, Earth, Air and ....... (Come on, watch the movie to know what is the fifth element, or at least read the book), are used in such a way that for a moment you will believe that all those things can be actually true.

Overall, it will be a great movie for all those who are fond of thrillers. May the angels win the battle against the demons.

Plus: An extremely well edited thriller

Minus: Well, I cant think of any....

99 Movie Review


99 was the first overseas release after a long time due to the ongoing strike in the Bollywood. I got an unexpected chance to watch the movie last night here in Dubai, and Oh boy!, it was out and out hilarious. The film is very simple with a simple and yet effective star cast.

The film portrays two friends Kunal and Cyrus, who want to be successful in life but they fail always because of some problem or other. They start working for Mahesh Manjerekar and this is when the matter becomes worse. The script is neately written to make sure that before you stop laughing for a comdey, you will be bombarded by another one and it goes on and on till the very last minute.

Soha's role was very short and not important. I guess she was used just because the film would have been incomplete without a heroine. There were also some new faces in the movie, and all of them have done their work to perfection.

The film is partrays India in year 2000 when the match fixing scandal was at its peak and the unit has taken great care to recreate the location as much natural as possible. Even the character names were named after the Indian cricketers.

Overall, 99 has all the technique and tactics to make a well deserved century. A must watch for everyone who was waiting for hindi movie to be released.

Plus: Top class comedy and smartly executed script

Minus: Misses good music

Kambakkth Ishq is finally out after a long delay. But I guess it could have better stayed that way. The first half of the movie is full of fun, but the latter half was nothing but a piece of crap. Well, nothing seems to be going well for Akshay Kumar this year. First CC2C, then 8 x 10 Tasveer and now this, none of them doing well in the box office.

The likes of Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards are just wasted in the movie. Stallone and Denise got some small roles, but Brandon was simply used to make his presence felt.

Viraj Shergill (AK) is a successful Hollywood stuntman who hates women. His brother Lucky (Aftab Shivdesani) is in love with Kamini (Amrita Arora), who is a friend of Simria (Kareena Kapoor) who is a med student doing modeling to pay her education fees. She feels that all men a dogs.

The marriage between Kamini and Lucky sparks the ego war between Viraj and Simrita, only for them to realize in the later stage that they are in love with each other. But the screenplay is too much complicated, for instance, the comedy track of Javed Jaffery is not at all linking to the mainstream script of the movie.

The first half if full of comedy but surely there will be some eyebrows raised because the dialogues are not decent. Well come on guys, this was supposed to be a family entertainer. But the dialogues are well below the standards and so as the comedy. The second half is a complete emotional drama or shall I say it emotional hatyachar.

Overall, Kambakkth Ishq is not capable of making you to Feel the Love, as said in the trailers. A true disappointment for a cinema hungry audience.


Plus: Good location, capable story

Minus: Not at all fit to watch with a family, good story taken in a bad way

Kambaqth Ishq Preview and Trailer

Kambaqth Ishq is the latest venture from the Nadiawala Production house. The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Sylester Stallone, Amrita Arora, Aftab Shivdasani and other loads of hollywood stars. Sylester Stallone will be making is bollywood debut with this movie.

This movie can prove to be a lifeline for Akshay. He is desparate to give a hit after both his last movies, CC2C and 8 X 10 Tasveer bombed at the box office. The movie is said to me a remake of a South Indian blockbuster Pammal K. Sambantham starring Kamal Hassan and Simran in the lead role. But the script has been changed a little to entertain the wider range of audience this time as the tamil version was too regional to be remade in hindi.

The movie is set to release in the later half of May 2009 but its speculated that the release may be postponed because of the ongoing issues between the distributors and the multiplexer owners. Akshay will be having his fingers crossed!!!!!.
