New York Movie Review

New York Movie Review

New York movie is based on post 9/11 scenario in the US, especially the way they have started treating South Asians after the incident. The film starts with a thrilling node when the FBI recovers arms and ammunition from Neil's cab. The FBI interrogation leads to a colorful flashback of Neil, Katrina and John with even more colorful college campus.

The script of the film is very promising but I felt that the actors could have put more effort in their acting. The second flashback was very carefully crafted, to show the torture in US detention cells.

The climax of the film could have been made more interesting. There were too many slow motion shots in the climax which gave a dragging feeling to it. Katrina has played her part well in some parts. To be honest she need to work a lot more on her expressions. Neil is equally good. Irfan played his role with great ease as usual. John had a very promising role in the movie, but somehow the role of a terrorist dint go well with him. His role had Dhoom1 written all over it.

The camera has played a very important role in the movie. The city was pictured in a very beautiful manner and the 9/11 incident was cleverly shown as from a TV instead of trying any stupid graphics shots.

Overall, New York is definitely a new change for the movie lovers.

Plus: Good script, Good cinematography

Minus: Shady acting in some places, below par background score

Overall Rating :
